IEDRC 23-17 Accessible Pathway Design to Clarify, Enter, and Stay on the Path

CTE in RUSD students are not entering and staying on the path to completion into post-secondary endeavors. On average, of students who enter a CTE pathway, only 11% stay on the path and complete the concentrator and capstone courses. These students are neither prepared to stay on the path in college nor qualified to immediately join the workforce and serve the industry, further increasing the growing skills gap. We have identified an equity and access gap in RUSD based on initial research, but the data does not clarify or specify those gaps within and across subgroups of students. Our students need pathway advisement, schedule flexibility, and career awareness to Clarify, Enter, and Stay on the path, earn certification, receive articulated credit, and complete CTE pathways to thrive in the workforce.
