Project Description: The purpose of a Makerspace is to explore curiosity while teaching students about entrepreneurship, product development, and design thinking; they also expose more of the community to STEM career pathways which will support industry needs. This endeavor brings the DSNs, city partners, Small Business Resource Centers, workforce development, and K-12 partners together to benefit the entire region by providing more resources and exposure to career pathways. Tours, after-school programs, and summer programming for the K-12 systems also create an opportunity for dual enrollment with newly created curriculum. The makerspaces create an opportunity to work more closely with industry and K-12 systems thus ensuring sustainability and increased FTES at the colleges through these skilled programs.
