Summary:
The Verizon Foundation is in the business of improving lives in literacy, knowledge and a readiness for the 21st Century. Specifically, we help people to increase their literacy and educational achievement, avoid being an abuser or a victim of domestic violence, achieve and sustain their health and safety. Funding priorities: education, literacy, domestic violence prevention, healthcare and accessibility, internet safety. The Verizon Foundation reviews unsolicited proposals on a continuous calendar year basis from January 1st through October 31st.

Northrop Grumman Corporation

Summary:
The company focuses a substantial portion of its contributions on programs which address education, health and human services, and services for veterans and the military. It is the policy of the Northrop Grumman Corporation to review grant requests two times per year. Grant requests submitted by April 30 will be reviewed by May 30. Grant requests submitted by September 30 will be reviewed by October 30.

Roads to Reading Initiative
Program:
Bi-Annual Competitive Book Donation Program; Roads to Reading Initiative
Summary:
The Roads to Reading Initiative was established in 2001 to assist literacy organizations and programs in rural and small communities that are underserved. The Roads to Reading Children’s Literacy Initiatives serves organizations nationally that increase literacy among the nation’s poor. Among our several programs are the following: The Bi-Annual Competitive Book Donation Program, Books for Kids, Book Bag Program, The Director’s Discretionary Book Donation Program, and All Children Need Books. Each program has distinctive guidelines that serve different types of organizations, groups and populations.
Update:
The competitive bi-annual book grant is suspended for 2009. We will continue to distribute books to organizations through the Books for All Kids and the Director’s Discretionary Book Donation program.
