Initiative #1: Addressing the Achievement Gap in Middle Schools

Grant proposals for 2009 Initiative #1 are limited to projects that help middle school teachers address achievement gaps among their students. 

 

Initiative #2: Teacher-Based Reform (T-BAR)

This initiative is intended to provide funding for up to four master grantee institutions of higher education (IHEs) that will be responsible for managing the Teacher-Based Academic Reform (T-BAR) pilot program. 

 

General Information

A total of approximately eight to ten million dollars will be awarded in targeted grants to postsecondary education institutions in California to support partnerships that provide high-quality professional development to teachers in local school districts.  The grants are funded through Title II-A of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001.
