New Programs

The Simulation and Gaming: Game Art program has received preliminary approval from the state chancellor’s office as both an A.S. degree and a 36-unit certificate.  The Game Art program puts equal emphasis on the artistic and the technical side of 3D modeling and animation for video games. The program combines Art classes with CIS classes to prepare students for entry level positions in game studios or to transfer to 4 year institutions. The program was developed jointly by Norco and Moreno Valley CIS faculty with strong input from the Art department. For more information on the Game Art program please contact Judy Perhamus at Norco or Matthew Barboza/ Matt Fast at Moreno Valley. Check out the Norco Game Art website at www.rcc.edu/norcogameart for more details about the program.

Fun Facts

The Culinary Arts program has been very successful the past month.  They received a $250.00 check from Riverside Women Club for a student scholarship.  They also raised almost $4,000 from their California Autumn Nights fundraiser for students’ activities and competitions.  They participated in the Riverside City College Career Day at Riverside Convention Center in October. One of their graduate students demonstrated ice carving, two students demonstrated cake decorating and then served the cakes after they were decorated.  Also, two students and Chef David Avalos prepared crêpes with orange sauce and served the potential students and their families.
